Biking on Vancouver Island

Larry and I spent 9 wonderful days biking through the Saanich Peninsula on Vancouver Island. We parked at Port Angeles and took our bicycles with us on the ferry to Victoria. They have an abundance of beautiful biking trails, some that share the road with cars, and some that share it only with pedestrians. The Seaside Trail follows the east coastline, up great hills and one views great houses. The Lochside Trail does some meandering in the country and connects back to busier traffic. The Galloping Goose is one that we haven't actually travelled much on until this year. Island drivers are considerate - they share the roads and wait for you to cross. This is the third year we've taken this trip and we still have more to see. We usually end in Sidney. This year we took a day trip to Salt Spring Island, an artsy island. However the hills almost got the better of us and we were afraid we'd miss our ferry back to our superb B & B - The Beacon Inn, so we breathed hard, drank lots of water and saw little art. Our B&B - our room was on special until the end of June: 5 year old, Tutor style (looked old), over 1 million dollars spent in draperies and bedspreads, professionally decorated, soaking tubs and/or jacuzzis AND a glass shower for every room, a fireplace and air conditioner in every room, and a full breakfast served in courses every morning. We stayed there 4 nights!!!!!
