New Pics

Alesta & I went to a friend's wedding on Saturday & I just wanted to share some pictures. That is all!

So Last weekend I had an art opening, I know I didn't really get the word out that well, I sent out some cards I didn't have everyones address and obviously, in hindsight I really should have just posted something on this handy dandy blog about it.
As you can see my always photogenic father made it (I think this is his serious look)

This picture was looking through the front window of the place at the sunset. You might recognize one of those names on the window too, the bottom one is my friend Ephraim, his work was up as well.

This guy is my friend matt, he and his girlfriend Elisheba own the place where the show was. He turned his head right as I was snapping the picture, just thought it was good I love the lighting.

A day in the sun.

I've spent a lot of today in my backyard working on a tank. I imagine a lot of you have not heard of my crazy RC Tank project so I'll fill you in. I'm making a 1:6 Soviet T-35 tank, the real ones look like this.

Mine currently looks more like this. Even though mine is upside down in that picture Shiva sitting on/in it should give you an idea of the scale. At 1:6th it's about 6' long and 1 1/2' wide and my estimate on finished weight is around 200 lbs. It'll be powered by two 24v DeWalt drill motors and two 12v Optima batteries, the tracks are made out of #60 carrier chain. The chassis is 1" square steel tube with 1/4" thick walls, around 50' of it, and the skin is 16g steel sheet metal. Ultimately it'll have 5 turrets, just like the original, and a Paintball gun for the main gun. I'm hoping it'll be rolling before December and operational turrets and other non-drive-train related things middle of '08. Today was a good day though, I drilled and tapped holes for all those bolts you see down the side. Just so you don't all think I'm compleatly insane take a look at the page of the other 1:6th scale RC Tank people. RC Tank Combat.

Neon

What do you get someone after so many Birthdays?

Why their own Neon Sign of course!!!

I ran into a small run-down neon sign company in Hansville at the tip of the pennensula while inspecting a system next door to them. I set it up for them to make this sign which is a copy of Annie's signature.

I had Annie write her name out on a lie that I was trying to prove the the way we sign our name says a lot about who we are... she filled one page and figured I was going crazy.

The neon company (two old ladies), took part in a "drive by" art show with 10 stops in Hansville. So I set it up to "view" the show and Annie and I drove out to see all the art. As we pulled up to the show Annie took one look at the run down place and said, "you go look I have no intrest in neon signs" grrrrrrr.... It took some talking (I'm a Drew and good at that), but I got her to walk in. She saw this......

Annie walked in and started to look and spotted the "Annie Sign" right away. She turned to one of the ladies and said... "My name is Annie" and pointing to the sign she added, " thats my name" We, "in the know" are just smilling and waiting to see how long it will take for her to notice its her own signature and sure enough she gets a strange puzzled look as she says, "I even write my name that way." She then turns to me and it all falls into place as every one in the room busts up laughing.....hehe

It was a good joke on her and I still get a kick out of the sign hanging on our wall. Sigh.... now how am I going to beat that one next year? Hmmm....
